The poem is about longing for good times in the past, when life was easy and carefree, when there was time to smell the fragrant flowers, watch the rain and sunset and collect dew from the plants and of course play music and listen to music.
It is also about a village and its population that has been caught in the wave of changes happening in the rest of the country and not having the skills to adapt or to change their lot in life.
It is also about a village falling victim to political and economic changes in the country in which they have been unlucky enough to be bypassed in the mainstream of changes by those in authority.
It is a call to certain quarters to be aware of what is happening to certain villages and to do something about it.
